Plastic Fantastic at Skechers Sundown Festival 2019

Conventionally people do not associate the environment with entertainment. We see a need to change that through collaboration with game changers from different disciplines. We also see the need to talk about the elephant in the room, namely the carbon footprint that a number of festivals have unintentionally created. In Skechers Sundown Festival, we will work with Weave Artisan Society, EPIC Home, BOPE to produce an installation designed with zero waste strategy. After the festival, we want to see how we can repurpose the structure initially designed for entertainment for community use.

In Borneo Lab, we always believe if we want to deliver changes in wider scale, we then will need to show the evidence of what we are believing in first. For the last two years, we have been organising cross regional collaboration to manifest possibilities through art and crafts. With Skechers Sundown Festival, we are glad to work with change makers of the region towards resolving a global and current issue- which is how could we setup a model that enable us to recycle the plastic waste. After the festival, we would like to continuously better and upscale the model through participation of people from different disciplines. That is why it is very encouraging to see corporate like Evian start taking their part in this. We also hope we could inspire people from different part of the cycle to take the action of their own scale.
