Essential oil scented candle is one of the more contemporary life-style products on the market today. It requires a high ratio of essential oil content, thus the practice of blending precious agarwood or gaharu essential oil into candles is rarely produced by commercial candle productions. Agarwood Essential Oil, also referred to as OUD oil, is extremely rare and valuable oil derived from the trees of the Aquilaria family. It grows in the entire Northeastern India, Bhutan, and in various parts of Southeast Asia. Agarwood is also known as aloeswood and is a fragrant dark wood that is primarily used to make perfumes and incense.
ODE 2 OUD Scent exhibition is a creative experiment to create a rich agarwood-theme scent which will then be infused into soy wax candles - a vegetable wax that is grown naturally without requiring the sacrifices of precious rainforest.
Scents from molecules that are derived from nature are the invisible sensory stimulants that, by tracing them back to its origin, we are able to peer into a region’s past, present and future. With hopes, that nature itself will be the ultimate beneficiary from this awareness of natural scents.
